Neymar's Transfer Value Jumps To $166M, CIES Football Observatory Reveals

Barcelona's Lionel Messi leads the way in the CIES Football Observatory's bi-annual list of the 100 big-5 league players with the highest transfer values. Messi is followed by teammate Neymar in second, Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Tottenham's Harry Kane. Messi's estimated transfer value of €251M ($272M) is €17M ($18.4M) below that of last June. This is mainly because he has entered the final phase of his career. Neymar's value has heavily increased since June, from €94M to €153M ($166M). He scored 25 goals in 34 appearances in La Liga, and nine goals in 12 Champions League games. A further increase in his value will depend on negotiations regarding his contract at Barcelona, which runs until '18. Hazard's value decreased from €142M last summer to €130M ($141M). This is mainly due to the poor performances of Chelsea, and he has not performed at his best (CIES).
