More Than 5 Million Viewers Tune To Watch Opening Four Hills Tournament Event

German public broadcaster ARD "recorded more than 5 million viewers for its broadcast of the opening Four Hills Tournament event," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The first heat, which started at 5:15pm, attracted an average of 4.51 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 23.8%. The second heat drew 5.4 million and had a 22.5% share starting at 6:30 pm. In comparison, last year's two heats recorded an average viewership of 4.5 million. In the target demographic 14-49, the competition from Oberstdorf, Germany drew shares of 11.1% and 13.3%, respectively. Following the ski jumping event, ARD aired a documentary about former F1 world champion Michael Schumacher.  The doc had a market share of 10.2% in the target demo. The program drew 3.88 million viewers and obtained a 14.5% share (DWDL, 12/30).

BULLSEYE: QUOTENMETER's Daniel Sallhoff reported German free-to-air TV channel Sport1 "drew more than 400,000 viewers for its broadcast of the 2016 William Hill World Darts Championship on Sunday." Sport1's coverage of the second round, which started at 8pm, attracted 420,000 viewers and had a 1.6% market share. In the target demo, the darts broadcast drew a 2.5% as 240,000 viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 12/28).
