Olympic Notes: 66,000 Personnel To Be Trained For 2022 Winter Olympics

A total of 66,000 local personnel "will receive professional training to meet the need of co-hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics in Chongli." Liu Xiaoma, an official of Hebei provincial sports bureau, said, "The 66,000 people, who are involved in all Winter Olympics-related work such as games management and marketing, will be trained by universities and professional institutes." Liu said that Hebei Province will allocate about 50M yuan ($7.7M) annually for the training program (XINHUA, 12/24). ... The plan for an Olympic sports park at the Lipno Reservoir "has been officially approved." The biggest Czech dam Lipno, "located just outside Šumava National Park close to the borders with Austria and Germany, is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations." The Olympic center "will be opened during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro" from Aug. 5-21. The park "will feature a number of sports attractions as well as live broadcasts from the Olympic Games" (RADIO PRAHA, 12/22).
