Marketplace Roundup: Qatar Airways Makes First 'Fun' Safety Video With Barcelona

Airlines have "cottoned onto the fact that safety videos can be another marketing channel, and now Qatar Airways has launched its own version with the Barcelona football team." Shot around Barcelona's Camp Nou Stadium, "the safety video shows football fans buckling up in their seats, a referee interrupting a game as his phone goes off and football fans swooning for oxygen" (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 12/24). ... A-League side Sydney FC renewed its partnership with premium partner The Income Tax Professionals for a further two seasons. The deal will see the ITP logo appear on the front of the club's home and away playing shorts until June '18, with ITP also receiving signage rights, hospitality and ticketing for all home A-League matches (Sydney FC). ... Man City "unveiled a new club crest which will appear on the team's shirts" from the start of the '16-17 season. The new design marks a departure from the existing badge, adopted in '97, and "instead resembles an updated version of the club's previous crest" which was first used in '72. The crest was revealed ahead of Man City's Boxing Day game against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium, "after a lengthy consultation with fans" (London GUARDIAN, 12/26).
