Marketplace Roundup: FC Schalke Extends Sponsorship With Roller

Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 "renewed its sponsorship deal with Roller" until the end of the '19-20 season. The Gelsenkirchen-based furniture and interior design company, which began its partnership with the club in '05, "signed a four-year extension." No financial terms were released. The club also began a "partnership with social media platform Snapchat" (SOCCEREX, 12/18). ... Rugby club London Scottish named Belhaven Best its new official beer sponsor (London Scottish). ... Telecom Vodacom extended its term as the title sponsor of the Super Rugby competition and its associate sponsorship of the Springbok team for a further five years, which will take its association with rugby in South Africa to 26 years. Vodacom joined the SA Rugby sponsorship family a year after launching in South Africa as a sponsor to the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The following year Vodacom extended its partnership with South African Rugby to include the Vodacom Super 12. Vodacom is one of a number of sponsors that have either renewed or signed new deals with SARU in the past two weeks. They include: Tsogo Sun, Bidvest Car Rental, OUTsurance, Energade and Steinhoff (SA Rugby). ... The South Asian Football Federation signed up sports data provider Sportradar to police the Suzuki Cup which kicks off Dec. 23 in India. Sportradar will use its Fraud Detection System to monitor betting behavior and patterns and to identify "any suspicious activities." The tournament, in its 11th edition, will consist of 12 matches, with the final being played Jan. 3. Sportradar already provides monitoring and training on match-fixing issues to the Asian Football Confederation (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 12/18). ... La Liga agreed to an expanded partnership with Samsung. The electronics company initially became an official sponsor of the league in August for the '15-16 season and the new deal will see Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch become the official smartwatch of La Liga for the remainder of the season (ISPORTCONNECT, 12/18).
