Bolton Wanderers Contemplating Releasing Assets To Raise Funds Quickly

League Championship side Bolton Wanderers is "exploring the possibility" of leasing its assets in a bid to "raise cash quickly," according to Jack Gaughan of the London DAILY MAIL. The struggling club is "in financial ruin and desperate to find new owners after long-term backer Eddie Davies withdrew his support for the club last month." A "number of different parties are interested in taking over, but progress has stagnated" -- even though Davies is "willing to wipe out an eye-watering" £185M ($276M) debt. It has led to Bolton, helped by adviser Trevor Birch, "contemplating the option of relinquishing assets on a temporary basis." The side currently owns the Macron Stadium, "with it a hotel and a training facility at Euxton." It is understood rival Preston has "looked into moving in to the training base" (DAILY MAIL, 12/18).
