Marketplace Roundup: Adidas To Re-Evaluate FIFA Deal If Body Fails To Change

Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer said that the company "will re-evaluate its FIFA deal if the scandal-hit governing body fails to change." Heiner said that "if FIFA manages to reform itself -- and from my view they are on the right track -- we will continue." He added that if FIFA falls short, adidas "will consider what the alternatives are" (AP, 12/16). ... Swiss bank Banque Eric Sturdza “will be the first ever title sponsor” of the Geneva Open. The arrival of a title sponsor gives “more weight and insurance to the event, which will continue to charge prices that are accessible to all.” Ticket prices start at 20 Swiss francs ($20) for early rounds, and rise to 60 Swiss francs ($61) for the quarterfinals. The Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open will take place May 14-21 (24 HEURES, 12/15). ... Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa will be a representative of the Spanish Football League's (LFP) World Challenge project. The 18-year-old Badosa, who lives in Barcelona, will be sponsored by La Liga (AS, 12/16). ... The Austrian Handball Federation (ÖHB) has signed a new kit supply deal with Danish company select. The five-year deal, which runs until '20, will take effect in Januray. Select replaces Jako, which has supplied the federation since '07 (SPONSORs, 12/16). ... Australian Football League side Adelaide extended its long-standing partnership with Foodland Supermarkets. The partnership will enter its 26th season after Foodland signed a new three-year deal (Adelaide). ... National Rugby League club Canberra Raiders unveiled a new major corporate partner for the next two seasons, with Denman Prospect to appear on the club's playing shorts and training apparel from '16-17. The partnership is the first of its kind for the Raiders as the team is being supported by Canberra's new suburb (Canberra Raiders).
