Event Notes: Man City To Play CL Knockout Stage Vs. Dynamo Kiev Behind Closed Doors

Man City will play a Champions League game "behind closed doors for the second successive year after being drawn against Dynamo Kiev in the knockout stages." City will travel to Ukraine in February for the last-16 first-leg clash at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium -- "but the 70,000-seat venue will be empty because of a ban imposed on Kiev." Last month UEFA ordered Kiev to play its next three European home games in an empty stadium "as punishment for offences including racist behaviour by fans during a group game against Chelsea" (London DAILY MAIL, 12/14). ... Finland, Israel, Romania and Turkey were confirmed as the host nations of FIBA EuroBasket 2017. Turkey will host a group phase group, as well as the final phase (FIBA). ... Clermont-Ferrand, France will host the fifth and final round of the HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series from May 28-29. Following the opening event in Dubai two weeks ago, the series will travel to São Paulo (Feb. 20-21), Atlanta (April 9-10) and Langford, Canada (April 16-17), before heading to Clermont-Ferrand for the series finale (World Rugby). ... World Archery's exec board appointed hosts of seven world championships until '20. The Dutch city of ’s-Hertogenbosch was awarded the World Archery Championships, World Archery Para Championships and World Archery Congress in '19 (World Archery).
