Franchise Notes: West Ham To Switch Training Grounds After Injury Setback

EPL side West Ham Manager Slaven Bilic will shift the club's training sessions from Chadwell Heath to Rush Green ahead of schedule "in a bid to halt injuries to his squad after yet another setback." Defender Winston Reid has been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League visit from Stoke City "after picking up an injury in training" and Bilic suggested that the surface at Chadwell Heath "was to blame." Bilic: "We were planning on moving the training ground to Rush Green at the end of the season, now we are moving that forward. ... The pitches here at Chadwell Heath are soft on top, but hard underneath which is the worse combination. ... This is not the fault of the groundsmen or the medical staff, it is just a fact" (REUTERS, 12/10). ... League Two club AFC Wimbledon "could come a step closer" to learning whether its plans for a "historic switch back to Plough Lane are to be approved on Thursday night." Merton Council’s Planning Committee will consider an application by the club "with a 20,000-seater stadium in the offing." The old Plough Lane was demolished 13 years ago, having been home to the old Dons for eight decades (London DAILY MAIL, 12/10).
