Sky Sports Makes Technical Error, Shows Live Footage From ManU's CL Game

Champions League football was back on Sky Sports on Tuesday ... "but only because" its news channel "blundered" by showing live coverage of ManU's defeat at Wolfsburg, according to Oliver Todd of the London DAILY MAIL. Viewers were "surprised to see footage from Germany in the Champions League's biggest game of the season so far." Rivals BT Sport paid £897M ($1.36B) to broadcast the tournament exclusively in the U.K. On returning from a break, Sky Sports News "cut to a silent live feed" of ManU midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger on the Volkswagen Arena pitch for one minute and 15 seconds. The mistake was "down to a technical error, with the feed offering little from the on-pitch action" as Schweinsteiger moved across the center of midfield out of possession. Both Sky and BT "chose not to comment" (DAILY MAIL, 12/9).
