Bids Being Accepted For Agencies Interested In Rights To World Beach Games

The Association of Nat’l Olympic Committees is seeking bids from agencies interested in the commercial rights to the new World Beach Games, a new Olympics-style event scheduled with a planned $150M budget slated for San Diego in Sept. '17. The RFP invites submissions to acquire comprehensive rights, just the sponsorship or broadcasting rights without host broadcaster production rights, or just for host broadcaster rights. Agencies with inquiries or questions are advised to contact georgetaylor@sportsartsplus.com and copy info@anocolympic.org. The Beach Games are intended as a relatively cheap, infrastructure-light way to lure millennials and youth-focused brands into the Olympic movement. The sports program for the 10-day festival is not yet set, but is expected to include beach volleyball, triathlon, surfing and e-sports. The rights include the ANOC WBG Digital Community, an online hub that will distribute digital content and serve as a social home for fans, athletes and corporate partners. Much of the strategic details are still being developed, but officials said the Games may try to sell sponsorship rights in four-year cycles rather than for the event itself, akin to the Olympics’ TOP program.
