FA Gives Ryan Giggs The OK Over ManU, Salford City Roles

ManU Assistant Manager Ryan Giggs and Northern Premier League side Salford City have persuaded the FA that his position as a co-owner of the non-League club "will not represent a conflict of interest" in Monday's third-round FA Cup draw, according to Ian Whittell of the LONDON TIMES. The governing body interviewed both parties over Giggs’s roles and "could have requested that he remove himself" from ManU’s preparations, should the club be paired with Salford City. However, the FA "is satisfied that Giggs’s evident commitment to his role" at ManU, "where he is tipped as an eventual successor to Louis van Gaal, ensures that no problem exists." The FA "also insists that its rules, and the FA Game Board’s role in examining any potential conflicts, are strong enough to preserve the credibility of the competition" if ManU and Salford are pulled out of the hat together (LONDON TIMES, 12/7).
