Pakistan Super League Collects Sponsors, Broadcasters, Team Owners

The Pakistan Cricket board announced the Pakistan Super League's commercial rights franchises, title sponsorship, and broadcast have been sold. Franchise rights have been sold for $93M. With Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad set for the first edition of the league, franchise rights were awarded to successful bidders at the end of the bidding process. Quetta's rights have been sold to Omar Associates. ARY Group CEO Salman Iqbal bought the Karachi franchise. Rights for the Lahore franchise were awarded to Qatar Oil. Islamabad's franchise has been sold to Leonine Global Sports. Haier Group CEO Javed Afridi won rights for the Peshawar franchise. One of Pakistan's oldest and biggest banks, Habib Bank Ltd. joined the PSL as title sponsor for the first three years of the league. As a result of the partnership, the league will now officially be known as the HBL Pakistan Super League. HBL PSL's broadcast arrangements have also been finalized for the next three years. The coverage will be produced by Sunset+Vine. Matches will be aired in Pakistan on Ten Sports and PTV Sports. Global TV rights for the same duration have been sold to Tech Front, a UAE-based media rights acquisition company (Pakistan Super League). EMIRATES 24/7 reported PSL Chair Najam Sethi said, "This is a major achievement in our PSL journey. The best part is that all team owners are ardent cricket fans and their dedication will make this league a success." Sethi said that coaches "will be chosen over the next 10 days, and players' draft will be held later this month." The first edition of the PSL will take place from Feb. 3-23 with "matches taking place in Dubai and Sharjah" (EMIRATES 24/7, 12/3).
