Belgian FA CEO Astonished By Claims That Players Had Not Been Paid For Image Rights

The assertions that the Belgian FA (RBFA) had not paid its national team players for image rights from the 2014 World Cup “surprised” RBFA CEO Gérard Linard, according to Philippe Dewitte of LA MEUSE. When asked about the players possibly taking legal action, Gerard “refuted the claims point by point.” Gerard: “We have not seen any claim from any player for any procedure. If certain ones want to contest something, they can, I’ll show them all the accounts and give them explanations. But I’ll repeat, I have not had any contact about this issue. So I ask myself, ‘Where does this come from?’ They want to believe in a conflict that does not exist. … Everything was paid in full last October! Everything is clean and relations are good, and clear, with Vincent Kompany and the rest of the Red Devils” (LA MEUSE, 12/2).
