Cricket Australia's Melbourne, Sydney Tests Will Remain All-Day

The "now-ritual sea of pink" at the Sydney Cricket Ground "will not extend to a pink ball, with Cricket Australia confirming it has no plans to confirm either the New Year's Test or the Boxing Day Test to a day-night match," according to Jesse Hogan of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Shane Warne's pitch for this year's Melbourne Cricket Ground Test to be played under floodlights with a pink ball, "to counteract the lack of interest in the West Indies' team, was dismissed" by Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland. Sutherland also reiterated that CA's "willingness to extend day-night Tests beyond Adelaide did not extend to Sydney or Melbourne." He said, "I don't think there's any compelling case for it. There's nothing broken about those two Test matches. I think in the foreseeable future it's not really likely. There's nothing wrong with Boxing Day. It's held at a time where everyone is on holiday" (SMH, 11/30).
