OLIVIER NIGGLI has been "named as the next director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency." Niggli will take up the role in June, when the 13-year tenure of New Zealander DAVID HOWMAN "comes to an end." The Switzerland-based Niggli "currently serves" as WADA's COO and general counsel, and also served as the organization's legal director and was CFO from '01-11 (PA, 11/18). ... ESPN promoted Senior VP/Operations JODI MARKLEY to exec VP/content operations and creative services, effective Jan. 1. She will replace STEVE ANDERSON, who is retiring at the end of the year. Markley will report directly to ESPN Exec VP/Production NORBY WILLIAMSON (ESPN). ... SALEH A. BIN NASSER of Saudi Arabia was re-elected Asian Volleyball Confederation president for "another four-year term." Following the election for the AVC president, the 20 new members of the AVC board of administration "selected from all five AVC zonal associations were announced" (FIVB, 11/18). ... CONCACAF Dir of Sports Integrity LAILA MINTAS "is leaving the confederation." Mintas, one of the world's "most experienced experts in the battle against match-fixing," set up the integrity department in "probably the world's most challenged confederation when it comes to integrity" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 11/18). ... Cricket Australia announced the appointment of MICHELLE TREDENICK and BOB EVERY AO to the nine-person Cricket Australia Board of Directors. Tredenick and Every fill vacancies left by former Chair WALLY EDWARDS who retired from the board after 19 years of service, and KEVIN ROBERTS who resigned his directorship to take up the position of Cricket Australia Exec GM  of strategy, people and one team. Tredenick is currently a director of the Bank of Queensland, Vocation Limited, Canstar Pty. Ltd., and is chair of IAG NRMA Corporate Superannuation Trustee Board. Every recently retired as non-exec chair of Wesfarmers, one of Australia's largest public companies and retailers (Cricket Australia). ... The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) said that Congo football Coach CLAUDE LE ROY resigned "just hours after securing a place for the country" in the final phase of African qualification for the next World Cup. The Frenchman told officials directly after Congo beat Ethiopia 2-1 in Brazzaville on Tuesday that "he would be leaving." Le Roy said, "After two formidable years, I've decided to embark on another adventure" (REUTERS, 11/18).
