Media Notes: Sky Italia Purchases Rights To Russian Premier League

Italian pay-TV service Sky Italia purchased the broadcast rights to show matches from the Russian Premier League in Italy. Though "neither the length of the deal nor the financial details were disclosed," a statement from Sky said that "further details of the contract, including the number of matches set to be shown, would be announced in the coming days." The deal starts with the round of games this weekend (SOCCEREX, 11/18). ... Sky Sports will show 10 live matches from the Football League in 10 consecutive days in December in a first for the league. Starting with League Championship side Nottingham Forest's trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Dec. 11, Sky Sports' "10 in 10" kicks off a program that will see 180 Football League matches played over three weeks around Christmas and the New Year (Football League). ... The friendly match between England and France Tuesday attracted an average audience of 6.7 viewers (25.9% market share) on TF1. In a meeting “full of emotions,” the ceremony of national anthems and the minute of silence were watched by more than 13.7 million viewers (46.7% market share). The French national anthem, La Marseillaise, attracted a peak audience of 17 million viewers. Last Friday, the France vs. Germany match attracted an average audience of 5.8 million viewers (24.1% market share) (L’ÉQUIPE, 11/18).
