FFF Decides To Play This Weekend, Bans Visiting Supporters

A meeting on Tuesday between French Professional League President Frédéric Thiriez and a representative of the French Football Federation at the Interior Ministry ended with them deciding to maintain the Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and Coupe de France matches scheduled for this weekend. To reinforce security the following efforts have been made:

  • Strong reinforcement of searches and pat-downs at stadium entrances, visual inspections of bags and a progressive metal detection system.
  • Lockers located outside of the stadium to store objects (bags, helmets or bulky items).
  • By order of the government, any pyrotechnic device is prohibited even outside the stadiums.
  • The recommendation for the public to arrive as early as possible to matches for more fluid entrance and to avoid long queues.
  • A ban on visiting club supporters, a measure that is justified by the lack of mobile forces available (LFP).
The Monaco Government has announced that Belgian Pro League side RSC Anderlecht supporters are prohibited from entering the territory, consequently the Nov. 26 AS Monaco vs. RSC Anderlecht Europa League match will not have visiting fans. This decision comes in response to the events in Paris, causing Monaco to raise its level of vigilance and prioritize the mobilization of its police forces (AS Monaco).
