League Two Side Carlisle United's Brunton Park Stadium Submerged Following Heavy Rain

League Two side Carlisle United groundsmen and other employees woke up Monday morning "to find the Brunton Park turf underwater after hours of heavy rain battered Cumbria over the weekend and throughout Sunday night," according to Daniel Prescotti of the London DAILY MAIL. Flood warnings "were in place on Sunday evening and those fears were confirmed" when the early mornings alarm clocks went off -- "with severe flooding clearly visible." The team's official website posted numerous Vines of "the severity of the rainfall before they attempted a clean-up." Officers from the Environment Agency "visited on Sunday night as areas around the stadium begun to submit to the forces above." But by 9am on Monday morning the clean-up operation "was in full force as the unwanted flood water was pumped away," with the club tweeting, "Goodbye to the flood water." The pitch "will soon be flood-free, however, it remains to be seen whether this Saturday's clash against promotion hopefuls Portsmouth will go ahead" (DAILY MAIL, 11/16).
