For Italy, VALENTINO ROSSI "is the more deserving winner" of this year's MotoGP championship than champion JORGE LORENZO. This conviction "is so strong" that Bwin Italia has decided to reimburse all customers who bet that Rossi would be the winner. It is what is referred to by betting agencies as a "Justice Payout" (AS, 11/11). ... La Liga side Sevilla President JOSÉ CASTRO has been called to testify in a Spanish court on Dec. 3 over claims that he violated article 292 of the Penal Code by preventing Sevilla VP DEL NIDO CARRASCO and shareholder GÓMEZ MIÑÁN from "exercising their right to vote" at a board meeting held in October (AS, 11/12). ... Ligue 1 side Angers striker JEAN-PIERRE NSAMÉ was “presented in front of a judge and indicted Thursday for assault on a minor under 15-years old.” He was “placed on probation, forbidden to leave the country and see his wife and child.” A report from a local hospital’s pediatric unit reached the prosecutor Nov. 9, describing the “suspicion of shaking a 5-month-old child” (L’ÉQUIPE, 11/11). ... Ex-Sunderland and Ipswich goalkeeper MARTON FULOP has "died at the age of 32." The former Hungary int'l had a tumor removed from his arm in '13 "but was cleared to continue his career." He played 47 times for the Black Cats between '06 and '10. Fulop "also played for Tottenham and West Brom and had loan spells at Chesterfield, Coventry, Leicester, Stoke and Manchester City" (BBC, 11/12). ... LEWIS HAMILTON "revealed he was involved in a car accident in Monaco on Monday night and travelled to the Brazilian Grand Prix a day late as a result." The three-time world champion, who said that "he has also been struggling with illness, posted a picture of himself en route to Sao Paulo on his Instagram account on Wednesday." He said that he "made very light contact with a stationary vehicle" in the principality earlier in the week but that nobody was hurt (London DAILY MAIL, 11/12). ... Former League Championship side Leeds United Managing Dir DAVID HAIGH "is due to be released from jail in Dubai on Monday," when he will fly back to the U.K. and "intensify efforts to clear his name." Haigh was given a two-year sentence in August after being convicted of "breach of trust" by the Dubai criminal court (LONDON TIMES, 11/12).
