Constantin Medien Reports Strong Q3 Following Positive First Half

Following a strong third quarter, the business development of Constantin Medien after nine months of '15 is exceeding expectations. The sports segment continued its positive operating trend from the first half-year period. In the sports segment with the umbrella brand SPORT1, the positive operating trend in coverage and market shares in the first half-year period also continued in the third quarter. The market share of the free-TV broadcaster rose to 1.6% in the target group of males aged 14 to 49 in the first nine months (9M 2014: 1.3%). From January to September, sales in the sports segment increased by 5.9% to €111.6M ($120M) (9M 2014: €105.4M). Operating growth and also lower cost of materials and licenses led to a jump in the segment result from €2.7M to €7.9M ($8.5M). In the sports segment -- and Event-Marketing, nine-month sales of €35.1M ($37.7M) (9M 2014: €30.4M) were above the prior period’s level by 15.5%. The segment result increased to €13.5M ($14.5M) after €11.2M in the same period last year. As planned, sales in the third quarter rose by 40.6% to €14.2M (Constantin Medien).
