Bruin Sports Capital Acquires Marketing Agency Engine Shop

Bruin Sports Capital, launched in '15 by George Pyne, announced the acquisition of Engine Shop, an experiential marketing agency known for its creative approach to engagement and amplification of marketing programs across the entertainment, sports, fashion, consumer and lifestyle sectors. Engine Shop's work on behalf of its clients has been cited in numerous industry award competitions. The N.Y.C.-based agency also operates from offices in L.A., Miami and Atlanta. The acquisition of Engine Shop establishes Bruin Sports Capital in global sports marketing services, expanding its portfolio of platform businesses. Pyne said, "Our experience building and operating businesses and access to long term capital will help enhance Engine Shop's ability to accelerate their growth." Engine Shop management will continue to operate the business and Bruin Sports Capital Partners, led by David Abrutyn, will collaborate to support its efforts and help drive the further growth and expansion of the agency (Bruin Sports Capital). Bloomberg's Scott Soshnick reported neither Bruin nor Engine Shop "would disclose financial terms." Pyne said, "They're a very talented group of people." It is the "latest addition" for Bruin Sports, which began operations earlier this year with $250M in funding from a group of investors led by Martin Sorell's WPP PLC., one of the world's biggest advertising companies (BLOOMBERG, 11/9).
