Event Notes: FIS Cancels Alpine Skiing World Cup Slaloms Due To Unfavorable Forecasts

The Int'l Ski Federation (FIS) said on Thursday that the men's and women's Alpine skiing World Cup slaloms in Levi, Finland, on Nov. 14-15 were canceled due to "unfavorable weather forecasts." FIS could reschedule the races later in the season. The last time the Levi slaloms were canceled, they were rescheduled in Flachau, Austria, in Dec. '11 (NBC SPORTS, 11/5). ... Cricket Australia invited Pakistan to play a day and night Test match when it tours Down Under in the winter of '16-17 for a full series. Sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Thursday that CA CEO James Sutherland had sent a letter to PCB CEO Subhan Ahmed proposing Pakistan and Australia play one of the three Tests under lights. One source said, "The PCB will discuss the Australian invitation at the next meeting of the Board of Governors but already they are receptive to the idea of playing a Test under lights with a pink or orange ball" (PTI, 11/5).
