Leyton Orient's Stadium Listed As An 'Asset Of Community Value'

League Two side Leyton Orient’s future in the borough has been given a boost after its stadium was listed an "asset of community value," according to Matthew Stanton of the YELLOW ADVERTISER. Waltham Forest Council confirmed that the Matchroom Stadium "received the grading following an application from the Leyton Orient Fans Society." The listing provides additional protection from development, "ensuring the owner must inform the local authority if they wish to sell the asset." If a group wants to buy the stadium, "they can trigger a moratorium for six months, to give them a chance to raise the funds." Leyton Orient's owners "have a right to appeal this decision within 28 days" (YELLOW ADVERTISER, 11/3).
