Cricket Australia has elected its first chair "independent of state interests with the appointment of former Rio Tinto Australia Managing Dir DAVID PEEVER." Peever, 58, "officially replaced outgoing chair WALLY EDWARDS" at Thursday's AGM in Melbourne (Cricket Australia). ... Italian Serie B side "fired coach CARLO SABATINI after remaining rooted to the foot of the table." The club earned "seven points in the opening 11 rounds" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 10/31). ... Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) announced that German VOLKER FINKE "has been axed as coach of the Cameroon national team." The decision was taken at an exec meeting of Fecafoot, "where ALEXANDRE BELINGA was placed in temporary charge of the side" (REUTERS, 10/30). ... Scottish Lowland Football League side Selkirk named forward GARRY O'CONNOR as manager of the club "on a permanent basis -- despite losing his first match in charge 5-1." O'Connor was "placed in temporary charge earlier in the week after the departure of STEVE FORREST." He will remain "involved in the playing side with Selkirk, balancing it with his new duties as manager" (SCOTSMAN, 11/1). ... The Russian Football Union and Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow "reached an agreement for LEONID SLUTSKIY to continue coaching both the national team and his club side until the end of Euro 2016" (REUTERS, 10/30).
