Marketplace Roundup: Turkish Club Galatasaray Secures Deal With Dunmankaya

Turkish sports club Galatasaray secured a "major new sponsorship deal with construction firm Dumankaya." The three-year agreement "will run until the end" of the '17-18 European football season and is worth 30M Turkish Lira ($10M) overall. As part of the deal, Dumankaya branding will be displayed on the front of the jerseys worn by Galatasarays's football side "during Spor Toto Super League and Turkish Cup matches (SOCCEREX, 10/30). ... Glasgow-based utility ScottishPower announced a six-figure sponsorship deal with Pro12 rugby side Glasgow Warriors. The three-year partnership will see ScottishPower represented through prominent back of shirt branding above the number on the Warriors home and away playing kit. The company will also work with the Warriors to develop a community youth program in the West of Scotland (Glasgow Warriors). ... 2016 Invictus Games organizers announced that Jaguar Land Rover will be the presenting partner for the world's largest int'l adaptive sporting event. The 2016 Invictus Games will be held in Orlando, Florida from May 8-12 and will host 500 military athletes from 15 nations (Land Rover). ... Man City is supporting Ideas Britain, the mobile platform which connects young people with great ideas to expert business coaches and brands in the launch of its "Innovation in Sport" competition (Man City). ... Online trading platform and brokerage Instaforex "announced a sponsorship deal with Italian Serie A club Palermo." Instaforex will be "the official online trading partner of the Sicilian club for the next two years, giving the company exposure on LED pitchside boards at Palermo's Stadio Renzo Barber and the use of Palermo's logos and branding on its marketing materials" (SOCCEREX, 10/30). ... French Pro A League basketball side L’Asvel announced a partnership with TISSOT to become the official timekeeper of the club. The Swiss watchmaker recently signed a major partnership deal with the NBA. TISSOT will have advertising space with optimal visibility inside the Astroballe, where L’Asvel plays its home matches (Asvel). ... Spanish second division side Real Mallorca agreed to "a sponsorship deal with Assmann Büromöbel" until the end of the '15-16 season. The office furniture company "is the first German brand to sign with Real Mallorca" since the club began a partnership with Karlsruhe-based MSC Sports in June (SOCCEREX, 10/30). ... Wayne Rooney has emerged "as the next big-name target for sportswear titans Adidas." The ManU striker is currently paid £1M ($1.6M) a year to wear Nike gear, but The Sun reported "that adidas want the star England forward to advertise" its products. Nike "lost out on" its sponsorship of ManU earlier this year -- "and now adidas reportedly want Rooney to switch brands too" (London DAILY MIRROR, 11/1).
