Media Notes: Clare Balding To Increase Number Of Days She Presents

TV presenter Clare Balding is to increase the number of days she presents Channel 4's racing coverage in '16, "after significantly reducing her involvement this year." Her involvement with the 2016 Olympics for the BBC seemed to indicate it was "unlikely she would have any greater involvement but Balding has signed an agreement to lead Channel 4's coverage of the four-day Cheltenham Festival, Grand National, Derby Festival, five-days from Royal Ascot and British Champions Day." Balding will "also front Channel 4's coverage of the summer Paralympics" (London DAILY MAIL, 10/28). ... Eleven Sports Network expanded its rights to include the Int'l Table Tennis Federation events for Singapore. Under the agreement, Eleven acquired a multi-year rights deal to broadcast ITTF World Tour events in Singapore (Eleven Sports Network). ... The 2015 Breeders' Cup World Championships will be televised live on Eurosport in over 70 countries on its European and Asian networks, and by int'l broadcasters throughout the Middle East, India and America (Breeders' Cup). ... Star India has "snapped up the broadcast rights of the much awaited venture of Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne namely the Cricket All-Stars T20 tournament, featuring cricket legends from across the globe." Confirming the development, a source said, "The rights are with Star and we all are looking forward to the tournament." While MasterCard "has been roped in as the title sponsor of the tournament," negotiations "are on with a few more brands." The source added, "We are in the last phase of proceedings and will soon reveal many more developments" (INDIAN TELEVISION, 10/28).
