Real Betis Reportedly Closer To Two-Year Shirt Sponsorship With Chinese Brand

As its president confirmed earlier this week, La Liga side Real Betis "is on the verge of a sponsorship agreement with a Chinese company" that would be worth €1M ($1.1M) per year, according to Miguel Á. Morán of MARCA. The contract will reportedly "take effect immediately, as soon as it is announced, and last for two seasons." At the end of the first season of the deal, Betis would have the option to "unilaterally rescind the contract, if, for example, it receives a better offer." The Chinese brand, for its part, "will also be able to end the deal after the first year, if, for example, the club is relegated" (MARCA, 10/29). Morán reported in a separate piece if it wanted, Betis "could start today" on the construction of the South Goal. The club has received permission for the project from the Seville City Council. The club's administrative council, however, is debating whether it should carry out this project or "bet on a more profound renovation to the Benito Villamarín to not only update the facility, but significantly improve the possibilities for commercial exploitation" (MARCA, 10/29).
