Cricket Australia's Coffers Boosted By ICC Cricket World Cup

After its annual general meeting, the Cricket Australia board said that it recorded a net surplus of A$99M ($70.1M) in the last financial year "following the co-hosting of the 2015 World Cup with New Zealand," according to REUTERS. Revenue increased to A$380.9M ($269.5M) from A$295.9M "after its share of the net profit from the 50-overs tournament in February-March." CA CEO James Sutherland said, "Last summer was billed as the biggest ever in the history of Australian cricket and it lived up to that promise." CA said that it would invest A$60M ($42.5M), "with a major focus on the development of women's cricket." Revenue "was projected to rise" to A$1.32B ($930M) for the four-year reporting period from '13-14 to '16-17, up from A$736M in the previous four-year period (REUTERS, 10/29). CA also received A$51M ($36.1M) "for its share of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup host net profit." Outgoing CA Chair Wally Edwards said, "It is one of the great financial years for Cricket Australia.
