Event Notes: Rugby World Cup Semi-Final Ticket Prices On The Slide

The Rugby World Cup should "still be set for another two full houses at Twickenham this weekend for the semi-finals but the secondary ticketing and hospitality markets have taken a hit this week." Organizers have revealed that "over 2.41 million tickets have been sold for the tournament." Some tickets are "now available in all categories from A to D at face value on the official secondary ticketing site," and some category A tickets "are now available on other secondary ticketing sites" for as little as £200 ($307) when the face value is as much as £515 ($792) (RUNNING RUGBY, 10/22). ... European Athletics announced it received 73 declarations of interest from 26 member federations to organize its 19 sporting and non-sporting events from '17-22. The response to the now-closed annual event bidding questionnaire sees at least three federations interested in organizing each of European Athletics' major events, with 10 retaining an interest in bidding for the 2022 European Athletics Championship. France and Georgia (Paris and Tbilisi) are preparing to submit their bids for the European Athletics Championships in '20, following Amsterdam 2016 and Berlin 2018 (European Athletics).
