PSG, Nike To Pay 'Close To' $6.2M For Undeclared Wage Supplements In Early '00s

Paris St. Germain will have to pay close to €5.5M ($6.2M) to the Organization for the Payment of Social Security and Family Benefit Contributions (URSSAF) after the Paris Court of Appeal ruled “in the case of undeclared wage supplements paid to club players” in the early ‘00s, according to LE PARISIEN. Nike, the club's equipment supplier, “has meanwhile been fined” €150,000 ($170,000). Nike was also “ordered to jointly pay the damages inflicted upon PSG” up to a ceiling of €3.8M ($4.3M). The charges involved include: “overvalued player transfers, along with increased commission payed to agents allowing reimbursements to the players and image rights contracts with Nike, considered disguised wages.” Players who “benefited from the payments” included former France int’l Nicolas Anelka and Brazil's Ronaldinho (LE PARISIEN, 10/20).
