Event Notes: David Beckham Announces World Tour To Benefit Unicef

David Beckham announced he will undertake a "world tour to benefit UNICEF." Beckham, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, "launched his own fund for the charity earlier this year, naming it '7.'" To celebrate his 10th anniversary of working with UNICEF, Beckham "will compete in seven games across seven continents over seven days." There "will be a documentary, expected to be broadcast by the BBC, charting the former England captain’s trip around the world" (London DAILY MIRROR, 10/18). ... The Rugby Football League said that Super League's Magic Weekend "will return" to EPL side Newcastle's St. James' Park ground in '16. Six games involving all the top-flight teams "will take place over the weekend" of May 21-22. The event "was staged in the North East for the first time this year" with Man City's Etihad Stadium unavailable because of rebuilding (BBC, 10/16).
