Roma President: Protests Over Curva Sud Segregation Are 'Hurting The Team'

Serie A side AS Roma President James Pallotta said that protests over Curva Sud segregation "are hurting the team," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. New safety measures this season have seen the ends behind the goal at Stadio Olimpico split in two, a move "which has angered fans of both the Giallorossi and Lazio." Pallotta: "I have always said that the heart and soul of Roma is the Curva Sud. In point of fact, if you look at our new stadium plans, the Curva Sud has its own section for 14,000 fans and is an integral part of the fabric of the new stadium. We don't own this stadium and we don't make any decisions on security and safety at the Stadio Olimpico." Lazio's fans are "threatening to boycott the Derby della Capitale, and the Lupi's could follow suit." Pallotta added, "I would be very disappointed if our fans aren't there for the derby. I guess there's a chance I may be sitting by myself in the Curva Sud with a flag and a sign" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 10/15).

BEE INVESTING: In a separate piece, FOOTBALL ITALIA reported Bee Taechaubol will meet representatives of Fininvest on Monday, "as negotiations to invest in Milan continue." The Thai entrepreneur agreed to a deal "to buy a 48 percent stake in the Rossoneri, though the transaction has faced delays." However, new talks will take place in Hong Kong on Monday, "in an effort to finally get the deal over the line" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 10/15).
