Current Australian Cricketers Pledge $14 Million Toward Growth Of Game

In an unprecedented move, 100 of Australia’s elite cricketers "have joined together to pledge" A$20M ($14.5M) toward the growth of cricket in the country, according to Carly Adno of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. The funds "are being allocated through the Australian Cricketers’ Association to help the game at grassroots level, support past players and develop further opportunities for female cricketers." ACA CEO Alistair Nicholson said that it is "all about the players putting something back into the game." The money "will be provided over a number of years," with the first payment being A$4M ($2.9M), followed by A$6M ($4.3M) (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 10/13).
