Event Notes: Hong Kong To Feature On Season Three Formula E Calendar

Hong Kong is set to be featured on the calendar for season three of the FIA Formula E Championship. The Hong Kong ePrix will take place on Oct. 9 subject to FIA track homologation. The 2km circuit will run between Lung Wo Road and the Star Ferry, with cars reaching speeds of up to 225kph (Formula E). ... New Zealand’s cricketers "are getting to grips with the new pink ball as they prepare for their historic day-night Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval next month." The Kiwis "are playing a practice game under lights at Seddon Park in Hamilton as they adjust to life with the new Kookaburra ball." However, despite suggestions the ball may prove difficult, spin bowler Mark Craig "had no worries with the way it was behaving." He said, "It’s a matter of the boys just getting used to it and adjusting" (AAP, 10/11). ... Wanda Group's senior management confirmed that next year some events on the worldwide Ironman race circuit prior to the Ironman World Championship -- the biggest event on the extreme endurance sports calendar -- would take place in major Chinese cities, with negotiations currently underway. At the same time, Wanda will select an influential domestic TV station to produce a reality show to promote the Ironman World Championship in China. Delegations from the cities of Hefei in Anhui and Dalian in Liaoning will also arrive in Hawaii in the next few days to watch and learn from the event. These cities may become the first destinations to host the WTC's int'l Ironman World Championship in China (Wanda Group).
