Romanian Side Steaua Bucharest Signs Sponsorship Deal With NetBet

Romanian side Steaua Bucharest "signed a new sponsorship deal with NetBet," according to SOCCEREX. The one-season agreement "comes after NetBet became the first gaming, betting and poker site to secure a licence in Romania." The partnership "will be activated across multiple platforms, including 'on the field, on websites, in promotional campaigns, in gaming, on social networks and among the customers.'" NetBet already has partnerships in place with a number of European football teams, including EPL side West Bromwich Albion and Ligue 1 side St. Etienne (SOCCEREX, 10/7).

STOIXIMAN PARTNERSHIP: SBC NEWS' Ted Menmuir reported Greek licensed online betting operator Stoiximan "secured its biggest marketing partnership to date," announcing a two-season shirt sponsorship deal with Greek Superleague side Olympiacos. It is the first time Olympiacos has partnered with a non-state owned betting firm (SBC NEWS, 10/7).

ESPORTS: In a separate article, Menmuir reported Betway "signed a deal to sponsor the largest esports tournament" in the U.K., the ESL UK Premiership. The partnership "marks the first foray into sponsorship within esports for the online bookmaker, who recently launched a dedicated esports betting portal" (SBC NEWS, 10/7).
