Football Notes: Hong Kong FA Fined After Fans Boo Chinese National Anthem

The Hong Kong FA has been fined by FIFA after "fans booed the Chinese national anthem and threw an object on the pitch during a World Cup qualifier last month." FIFA said that it had finded the HKFA 5,000 Swiss francs ($5,170) "over the incidents in the Sept. 8 match between Hong Kong and Qatar" (REUTERS, 10/6). ... UEFA opened racism proceedings against Lokomotiv Moscow "over fan chants at a Europa League game." The Russian club already issued an apology "after anti-Albanian slogans were chanted during the 2-0 home win over Albanian club Skenderbeu last Thursday." UEFA's disciplinary body "may impose sanctions" on Lokomotiv when it hears the case on Oct. 15 (AP, 10/5). ... Poland's national team players are set to get a £100,000 ($152,340)-per-man bonus if they beat Scotland "to clinch qualification for Euro 2016." The Polish FA, along with its sponsors, agreed to a deal to pay the squad around £1.75M ($2.67M) "for those who have played in the qualifiers." It will be distributed "depending on how many games the players have taken part in for the qualifying campaign" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 10/6).
