Facility Notes: Socceroos Qualifier Against Jordan Will Go Ahead Despite Construction

Football Federation of Australia "has been assured the Socceroos World Cup qualifier against Jordan will not be hampered by significant construction taking place" at the Amman Int'l Stadium. The venue is said to be "capable of staging the fixture despite works taking place as close as the edge of the pitch." FFA staff "first inspected the Amman Int'l Stadium six months ago and as recently as last week." They were told by organizers the match "will be able to go ahead despite the renovations" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 10/6). ... A new grandstand at Cheltenham Racecourse "will be opened next month." The Princess Royal "will officially open the new stand on the first day of the Open race meeting" on Nov. 13. The final part of a £45M ($50.7M) redevelopment at the course "will house restaurants, bars and a new Royal Box" (BBC, 10/6).
