SERGI BARJUAN is no longer the coach of Spanish second division side Almería. He was sacked by club President ALFONSO GARCÍA "due to a streak of bad results." The team "has earned only 1 point" in its last four games (AS, 10/3). ... Liga MX side Cruz Azul announced on Friday that TOMÁS BOY will replace SERGIO BUENO as its manager for the rest of the current season. Boy has previously coached 10 Liga MX clubs. His last experience was with Atlas, from '12-14 (MARCA, 10/3). ... Senior VP of Fox Sports Europe & Africa at Fox Int'l Channels Europe & Africa KELLY BUTLER is set to resign. Butler joined FIC in '13 when the company "acquired Setanta Africa, she helped steer the strategic direction and management of several sports endeavors across the region." She "advised on acquisitions and business strategies for Fox Sports channels, including localization, int'l programming negotiations, digital media and operations." Prior to joining FIC, Butler "pioneered the launch of cable and satellite TV in the Asia-Pacific region as he head of sport at STAR-TV and later as senior VP and GM at ESPN STAR Sports" (TV EUROPE, 10/3). ... Premier League side Sunderland Manager DICK ADVOCAAT has resigned, "with the team yet to win in the Premier League this season." The 68-year old Dutchman "was appointed in March, when the Black Cats were one point above the relegation zone." He "guided them to safety and was due to leave the club in the summer, only to sign a new one-year contract." Assistant head coach ZELJKO PETROVIC "has also left the club" (BBC, 10/4). ... The Board of Control of Cricket in India President SHASHANK MANOHAR has been elected a second time and "promised to clean the image" of the BCCI. The 58-year old, who previously held the role from '08-11, "succeeds JAGMOHAN DALMIYA," who died last month. Manohar: "The first priority is to restore the faith of the fans" (BBC, 10/4). ... Liverpool manager BRENDAN RODGERS has been sacked. The Reds boss has "paid the price for a poor start to the new season" with the club 10th in the Premier League table with 12 points from eight matches. Owners Fenway Sports Group informed the 42-year old of their decision following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. Rodgers took over from KENNY DALGLISH in June '12 after a "successful spell" at Swansea City (Liverpool).
