League Notes: Michelin Continues As Formula E Tire Supplier Until End Of '18-19 Season

Michelin said that it "will continue" to be sole tire supplier for the Formula E electric series until the end of the '18-19 season. Formula E "completed its debut season last June and starts again in China in October" (REUTERS, 9/30). ... Anti-doping chiefs "rejected calls to ban elite athletes from taking thyroid medication." UK Anti-Doping said it was "disappointed" by the World Anti-Doping Agency's decision. Earlier this year, European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey claimed some athletes were using "unethical" thyroid medication to enhance performance (BBC, 9/30). ... The Russian Federation of Baseball has “not seen a rise in interest of the sport” yet the Council for Human Rights in Russia reported a single baseball, two gloves and 400,000 bats were sold in Moscow last year. RFB spokesperson said, “We are the only seller of baseball bats in Moscow and we do not have sufficient stock to allow the sale of 400,000 bats in one year” (AFP, 10/1).
