ANZ Stadium Staff Overhauls Beer Taps To Cater To Thirsty NRL Grand Final Fans

The National Rugby League's historic all-Queensland decider has created an "unprecedented demand for the sunshine state's most famous beer," forcing ANZ Stadium staff to "reconfigure its 288 beer taps and wheeling in 740 kegs of XXXX Gold," according to Phil Rothfield of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. With "the bureau predicting a Queensland-like" 32 degrees Celsius for Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, the stadium caterers expect to "sell a whopping 120,000 cups of beer on the day." Around 70% "of the beer taps have been switched to XXXX." The stadium's Head of Catering & Hospitality Andreas Breitfuss expects "XXXX Gold to account for up to at least 70 percent of the total consumption of the amber ale." Breitfuss: "It's like anything -- you cater for what your clients want." The demand for XXXX "is in direct contrast" to State of Origin encounters at ANZ when the parochial NSW Blues fans have made Hahn Super Dry 3.5 the "highest-selling beer in the general public areas." At this game it is "expected to be down" to 30% (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 10/1).
