Event Notes: Tour Of Bangladesh Scrapping May Let Australian Batsmen Play New Zealand

The possible scrapping of Australia's tour of Bangladesh could give Test batsmen the option of playing for the Prime Minister's XI against New Zealand in Canberra, "giving them another chance to face the pink ball before this summer's historic day-night Test." Australia's cricketers have been sent back to their state squads before the one-day domestic series begins next week "amid security issues in Bangladesh," with a decision on whether the tour goes ahead tipped to be made by Thursday (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/30). ... The first Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) Cycling gala, marking the end of the UCI professional road cycling season, will be held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Oct. 11. The festivities will take place at the Yas Marina Island "du Arena" concert venue on the evening of the final stage of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour, a four-day stage race on the UCI Asia Tour calendar (UCI).
