Sport1 Will Show Bayern Munich's Women's Champions League Games

German free-to-air TV channel Sport1 "has secured UEFA Women's Champions League rights," according to Timo Nöthling of QUOTENMETER. The channel "will show the games of Women's Bundesliga side Bayern Munich." The games of the two other German Champions League participants, VfL Wolfsburg and FFC Frankfurt, "will not air on Sport1." The channel will kick off its coverage on Oct. 14 with the return leg between Bayern Munich and Dutch side Twente Enschede. German insurance company Allianz is not only the shirt sponsor of Bayern's women's team, but will also be the presenting partner of the game broadcasts (QUOTENMETER, 9/23).

BUNDESLIGA RATINGS
: In a separate piece, Nöthling reported German public broadcaster ARD "recorded close to 4 million viewers for its Bundesliga highlights show on Tuesday." ARD's Bundesliga "Sportschau" attracted 3.99 million viewers starting at 10:36pm. The number translated into a market share of 23.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, the show, which recaped Tuesday's four games, obtained a 19.1% share (QUOTENMETER, 9/23).

VOLLEYBALL DEAL: The SID reported the Volleyball Bundesliga "presented media company ProSiebenSat.1 as its new marketing partner." In addition, all league games will be live broadcast on Sportdeutschland.TV in HD. ProSiebenSat.1 recently aquired a majority stake of DOSB New Media, which operates Sportdeutschland.TV (SID, 9/23).
