The death of Board of Control for Cricket in India President Jagmohan Dalmiya has "triggered a race" within the BCCI for the post of interim president, but the Supreme Court's "stay on working committee meetings may throw a spanner in the works," according to IANS. According to section 16/d of the board's constitution, Secretary Anurag Thakur will have to announce the date for a Special General Meeting within 15 days of the death of Dalmiya, with a three-week notice to the various state associations. The interim president will then be chosen at the SGM. But "there are doubts whether Thakur can actually call for a SGM" since the working committee can "only meet once the Supreme Court gives its verdict" on the petition filed regarding ousted BCCI President N. Srinivasan (IANS, 9/23). The PTI reported Pakistan Cricket Board Chair Shaharyar Khan has said that the PCB would "no longer ask India to play the bilateral series planned in the UAE in December." Khan: "I think we have said enough about the series and we are not going to ask them anymore. The ball is in their court now and they now have to decide and inform us about the fate of the series" (PTI, 9/23).
