League Notes: UK Athletics Says Mo Farah Clear To Continue With Alberto Salazar

UK Athletics found "no reason to be concerned" about Mo Farah's coach Alberto Salazar and his training regime at the U.S.-based Nike Oregon Project. After a full review into allegations of doping against Salazar, UKA restated its view that there is "no evidence of any impropriety" from Britain's double Olympic champion or any reason to "lack confidence" in his training program (BBC, 9/18). ... National Rugby League referees "may wear cameras mounted on their heads for all matches next season if the bunker system is introduced in a move that would have enabled video referees Bernard Sutton and Ben Galea to view exactly what whistleblower Matt Cecchin had seen before awarding a controversial try to Sydney Roosters forward Kane Evans." Cecchin "stopped last Friday night's semi-final clash between the Roosters and Bulldogs and told Sutton and Galea he believed Evans had scored a try." Fox Sports last year pioneered the use of "ref-cam" -- a mini-camera mounted on the forehead of referees, "which enables viewers to see exactly what the whistleblower is seeing, but the technology is not used in every match" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/20). ...Australian football's pay wars "could be a thing of the past if players are awarded a percentage share of the game's riches." That "is the view" of Australian Football League Players' Association CEO Paul Marsh "who will soon enter negotiations with AFL chiefs over a collective bargaining agreement to come into force in 2017" (Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH, 9/20).
