Rio 2016 Plans To Hire 90,000 Workers For Olympic And Paralympic Games

The Rio 2016 organizing committee plans to contract 90,000 people to work at next years Olympic and Paralympic games. 85,000 outsourced staff will be hired by third-party companies, and 5,000 vacancies at the organizing committee will be recruited by ManpowerGroup. It is expected that the recruitment drive will provide a boost to the Brazilian job market, and leave a legacy to the service sector in particular. The first 250 of the 5,000 committee jobs are already advertised on ManpowerGroup's Brazilian site, though applicants must have a Brazilian CPF number to register. ManpowerGroup CEO Riccardo Barberis said, "This is the largest number of jobs within one project that the company has ever offered." The positions available for foreign candidates will be advertised on the ManpowerGroup websites in the relevant countries. Salaries range between R$1,500 ($392) and R$6,000 ($1,566) for the 5,000 temporary roles (Rio 2016).
