Event Notes: Brasileiro Side Flamengo Sells Record Number Of Tickets

Fans of Brasileiro side Flamengo "broke the record for the number of tickets sold ahead of a game" in the '15 season. Supporters bought 67,000 tickets "to see the team play against Coritiba at the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasília at 9pm on Thursday. The record "was previously held by São Paulo." When they played Coritiba in the same game at the same stadium in June, "they drew a crowd of 59,612 fans" (RIO TIMES, 9/17). ... South Australia "may be struggling with rising unemployment, but that is not dampening Adelaide fans' willingness to spend big on football." The Australian Football League club "is expecting up to 30,000 fans to make the trip to watch the Crows play Hawthorn" at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday. North Melbourne predicts a more modest 2,000-3,000 supporters "to travel to Sydney for the Roos' do-or-die clash with the Swans on Saturday." While most Adelaide fans will fly, the Crows Supporters Group "has organised seven buses to get some to the MCG, heading off between 5am and 7am on Friday" (THE AGE, 9/17).
