Rugby World Cup Updates To Be Streamed At London Tube Stations

Transport for London "has partnered with ITV, the broadcaster for the Rugby World Cup, to produce live news and updates from the tournament on the capital's tube and DLR networks," according to Omar Oakes of CAMPAIGN LIVE. Information "will be streamed at entrances and platforms at 180 stations about the World Cup," which begins on Friday at Twickenham, where England faces Fiji. The service "was unveiled at Southwark Station" by Maggie Alphonsi MBE, a member of the England team that won the Women’s Rugby World Cup last year. Alphonsi said, "The match scheduling means that there will be plenty of commuters traveling on the London Underground at crucial moments throughout the Tournament, who might otherwise miss out on the action." The partnership will make £160,000 ($247,000) for TfL and "is part of its wider plans" to generate £3.4B ($5.2B) in revenue that does not come in from ticket fares by '20-21 (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 9/14).
