Media Notes: NFL Renews Contract With RR Media For Three More Years

The NFL has renewed its contract with RR Media for three more years. The contract covers live and non-live delivery into Asia, Europe and, for the first time, an opportunity to deliver games into South America. After multiple successful seasons, RR Media continues to provide sports media solutions to the NFL.

The NFL "renewed its contract with RR Media for three more years." The contract "covers live and non-live delivery into Asia, Europe and, for the first time, an opportunity to deliver games into South America." RR Media will be delivering the NFL preseason, regular season and playoffs culminating in the Super Bowl, "as well as a variety of magazine-style and highlights programming" (SVG, 9/10). ... German free-to-air TV channel Sport1 "has signed an early contract with the ADAC to broadcast the ADAC GT Masters series for a further two years until '17." Sport1 "will continue to show all races of the series on free-TV, pay-TV channel Sport1+ and online" (DWDL, 9/10). ... Poland's Eleven Sports Network signed three distribution deals with East & West, City-Net and Gawex that make the channels Eleven and Eleven Sports available to all subscribers as part of their basic package (Eleven). ... The top level of domestic football comes to TV screens regularly for the first time this summer with New Zealand Football confirming on Thursday live coverage of selected matches of the ASB Premiership on SKY Sport. The NZ sports broadcaster will carry 32 of the competition's 59 matches live throughout the '15-16 ASB Premiership season, with at least two matches per round to be shown while a weekly 30-minute highlights package will also be part of the schedule (NZ Football). ... With the new NFL season set to kick off Friday morning local time, Sky Sports "made good" on its "summer vow to up their coverage across the pond, as presenters traveled over 5,000 miles around the United States," visiting each of the league's 32 teams in just 12 hours. Sky held interviews with key players, "discussing their hopes and expectations as they previewed the forthcoming campaign" (London DAILY MAIL, 9/10). ... Irish football club Shamrock Rovers asked Irish broadcaster RTE to "stay away from their remaining home games this season because they believe it is impacting on attendances." The Dublin club believes that TV coverage is costing it "thousands in gate receipts," particularly when matches kick off at 7:05pm and fans "are forced to fight through traffic in the Irish capital to get to their Tallaght ground" (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 9/10).
