Welsh Rugby Union Announces Record Turnover Of $99M For Year Ending In June

The Welsh Rugby Union posted record turnover of £64.2M ($99.2M) for the financial year ending in June, which allowed £22.6M ($34.9M) to be invested into the game at all levels in Wales, according to Tim Groves of RUNNING RUGBY. The latest figure includes the turnover from the WRU's new subsidiary, Millennium Stadium Experience Ltd. (MSEL), for the first time -- it provided an income of £3.1M ($4.8M). The turnover has increased from £58.5M last year and the "administrative expenses have fallen" from £55M to £50M ($77.3M), giving the union a profit of £14M ($21.6M) compared to just £3M for the year ending June 2014. The WRU’s "key figure" of operating profit before depreciation, amortization, exceptional items and allocations to affiliate organizations (EBITDA) has increased from £27M to £30M ($46.4M) (RUNNING RUGBY, 9/10).
